Fundraiser this weekend- holiday crafts!

We've got another fundraiser coming up this weekend! Team Dearborn will be at the Kmart in Livonia, at 7 Mile and Farmington, on Saturday, Nov. 26 and Sunday, Nov. 27. We'll be there from roughly 9 AM to 5 PM both days. We'll have information on the American Cancer Society and Relay for Life, and we'll be selling some holiday crafts. Candy trees, photo albums, and other holiday goodies- all handmade by members of our team! We always have a good time doing fundraisers at Kmart, so come check it out and say hi to the team! Pictures of our events frequently find their way to our facebook page, so check back later this weekend or next week.

In other Team news, who's ready for the pub crawl? Less than two weeks away, we're getting final details confirmed with our venues, and working on some great surprises for the night! Look for 50/50s, raffles, and other treats throughout the night! Also, don't forget about the ugly sweater contest. The theme is ugly Christmas sweaters, but if you've got a regular, everyday ugly sweater, feel free to wear that! You might need to convince the judges why you deserve to win, though. ;) Contest will be judged at the Post Bar, at ROUGHLY 11:30 PM. We do our best to stay on target with times, but sometimes things get away from us a little. Details on raffle prizes, drink specials and other surprises will be added to our facebook event page as we confirm them.

Pub crawl update!

Updated list of bars! We haven't finalized our route yet, but that should be announced (along with our starting venue) in the next week. For now, we've got Buffalo Wild Wings, Bailey's, Biergarten, the Post and Double Olive.

Also found out our specials at Bailey's. Participants can get $5 top shelf Long Islands, $5 Patron, and specials on the featured beers (one domestic and one import/specialty). I'm not sure what December's featured beers will be yet, but they've got some good taps there. A small (pint) domestic will be $3, and a small import/specialty will be $4.

Look for more specials to be announced next week!

Pub Crawl

Team Dearborn is gearing up for our second Charity Pub Crawl! Our first crawl was pretty small, but it's something we definitely enjoyed, and are looking forward to growing into a bigger event. There are some great bars in our area, and we're big fans of local businesses. If we can find a way to support them while raising money for cancer research, then we're all for it! We're still working on securing the last couple of venues for the crawl, so make sure you watch this space for more information in the coming weeks. Mark your calendars, though, because here's the information you need right now!

Friday, December 2
Registration starts at 7 PM (starting venue to be announced!)
$15 registration fee gets you a wristband that gets you drink specials at the designated bars all night.
Must be 21 to participate- we'll be checking ID, and so will the bars.
Participating bars so far: Buffalo Wild Wings (Michigan Ave., Dearborn), Biergarten, Post Bar Dearborn, and Double Olive.
At least part of the team will be moving between bars roughly every hour or so (with the exception of our first venue- we'll be there from 7-9 PM for registration purposes). Join us if you want, follow your own path, or set up camp at your favorite place all night- it's up to you!
The theme? Ugly Christmas sweaters. Come prepared to help us ugly up the Avenue- we're working on securing some special guest judges to help us decide just whose sweater is the ugliest. Make sure you bring your A-game, though. Some of our team members are going all out to score that honor for themselves!
The obligatory reminder- be safe at the crawl! Call a cab, assign a designated driver (we've got food specials, too!), sucker a 19-year old relative into picking you up at the end of the night. Whatever you need to do, just be responsible and get home safely.

We'll be announcing the specials at different bars as we get closer to the event. We're also working on a few surprises for the night, and those will be announced once details are finalized. For now, though, here's what I can tell you: our specials at Buffalo Wild Wings will be $3 pints, and select $3 appetizers.

Keep an eye on the blog (or our Facebook page) for more pub crawl updates!

Lindbergh Holiday Boutique

Team Dearborn is getting ready for our next fundraiser! We're going to have a table at the Lindbergh Holiday Boutique on Saturday, November 12. We've been making and selling crafts to benefit the Relay for Life for some time now, but this is the first craft show we've been juried into. We'll have some really great items for sale, all made by team members. We donate all of the material and time, so all of our profits will go to the American Cancer Society, through Relay for Life. We've got jewelry made from zippers, photo books, angel ornaments and more! Full information about the Lindbergh show can be found below the pictures.

Welcome!

Welcome to the official blog of Team Dearborn! As it says in the header, we're a community-based fundraising team from Dearborn, Michigan. In the sidebar to the right, you'll find a little bit of our team history, as well as information on the charities we're currently supporting. There's also a link to our Facebook page, if you're into that.
Up at the top of the page, you can see what our next fundraising event will be. We're a pretty busy team, so we've usually got at least one event in the works! The next couple of months are going to be especially busy. We'll have a table at the Lindbergh Elementary PTA 39th Annual Holiday Boutique on Saturday, November 12. We've got some very crafty people on our team, and we've got some great items for sale! All of our profits will be donated to the American Cancer Society, through the Relay for Life.
Also coming up, we'll be selling some holiday crafts and baked goods at the Kmart in Livonia (Farmington and 7 Mile) and doing gift wrapping at Barnes and Noble (in Allen Park, on the hill). We're also gearing up for our second Team Dearborn Charity Pub Crawl! Expect full posts for these events as they get closer.
In the meantime, here's some more information on the American Cancer Society, the Relay for Life (there are Relays going on all over the country, so check them out!), and our event, the Dearborn Michigan RFL. Take a look around, and feel free to email any questions/comments you've got to teamdearborncares@gmail.com!
