3rd Annual Ugly Up the Avenue Pub Crawl

Get out your ugliest holiday sweater and come help us raise money for a great cause! We've got four bars giving us great food and drink specials- confirmed specials are listed below, and we'll keep this updated as we get more information! All locations are in Dearborn on Michigan Avenue.

Join us on Friday, December 13- registration starts at 7 PM, but you can buy a wristband and join the fun at any time during the night. If we've moved on from the starting location, just find us at one of the other bars (our rough schedule is listed below). Wristbands are $15 each, and you have to have one to get the specials at the bars. 

MUST BE 21 TO BUY A WRISTBAND/PARTICIPATE.

Here's the schedule, and the confirmed specials:
Buffalo Wild Wings, 7-9 PM- 20% off your total bill (food and alcohol!)
Moose's Martini Pub, 9-10:30 PM- TBA
Red Martini (formerly The Well), 10:30-12:00- $2 domestic beers, $4 shot specials
Double Olive, 12:00-2:00- TBA

We'll be doing 50/50 drawings throughout the night, with all proceeds going to the American Cancer Society.

All proceeds from wristbands will be donated to the American Cancer Society through the Relay for Life.

It's that time of year again...

It's craft season for Team Dearborn! 

We had no idea how crafty our teammates are--but they are! There is some serious talent on this team. We're selling some of our classic items, like fold-out photo albums and tissue holders, as well as seasonal items. For Halloween we have some peanut butter cup spiders and ghost lollipops! (They're cute AND delicious.) We'll have more seasonal items as winter rolls around--we'll let you know what we create. Our first two craft sales are planned--check out the details below and come check us out! All materials and time are donated by Team Dearborn members, and 100% of the proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society. 

This Saturday and Sunday (October 26th-27th) we'll be at Kmart in Livonia. It's on 7 Mile Rd. at Farmington Rd. We'll be set up from 9am-5pm on both days. 

The Alternative Holiday Market at Christ Episcopal Church in Dearborn is back this year! Check out the details below, and keep an eye here for a sneak peek of our holiday items.

Fire Department Open House!

Hey friends!

We've been silent for a while around here--we were taking the summer off! With the date for the 2014 Dearborn Relay for Life all set (June 7th-8th...mark your calendars!) we're ready for another great year here with Team Dearborn.

TODAY, Saturday October 12th, the Dearborn Fire Department is hosting their annual Open House at Station 2 on Outer Drive (by Dearborn High School) from 12-2pm. The event celebrates Fire Prevention Week. It's a great family event where you can check out fire trucks, get your face painted, have a hot dog, and check out other community groups. Team Dearborn will be there, so come say hi!

2nd Annual Ugly Up the Avenue Pub Crawl- Tropical Edition

It's that time of year again! We're getting ready for our next pub crawl. This Friday, June 28, join us along Michigan Avenue in downtown west Dearborn to have some run and raise money for the Dearborn Firefighters Burn Drive! Participants will get great food and drink specials at our four participating bars all night with the wristband- yours for a donation of $15. Specials are still being confirmed, but we'll keep this updated as we learn more.

We'll be starting at Buffalo Wild Wings at 7 PM, then at 9 we'll start moving between our other bars. In order, we'll be at Biergarten, Post Bar, and Double Olive. Feel free to join Team Dearborn members on our route, or make your own!

Some college football coaches tell their players to play hard on Saturday.  After the game, the “24 hour rule” begins for Sunday – the players and coaches have that day to celebrate or mope, depending on the result of the game.  On Monday, they have to put aside the prior day’s emotions and get back to work.

Blending this philosophy with that of Relay for Life and applying it to Team Dearborn:

Saturday was a day to Remember.  As a Team, we Remembered our mission to eliminate cancer, our commitment to those needing additional services, and our intent to honor our late Team member, Marlene Czerwick.  During the luminary ceremony in particular, we also remembered other people we have lost to or who are still suffering from this terrible disease.  And we resolved to work hard.

Sunday (today) has been a day to Celebrate.  We have had many things to Celebrate, too.  We Celebrate meeting and exceeding our goal by raising over $29,000 and in so doing, we Celebrate Marlene’s life, friendship, and memory.  This year, our efforts were dedicated to honoring her.  We Celebrate being one team among the many in Dearborn’s Relay who collectively raised over $117,000 for the American Cancer Society this year.

Monday (tomorrow) we roll up our sleeves again to Fight Back.

Are you ready for Relay?

Well, we're in our final day of prep for Relay for Life around here! All of Team Dearborn, as well as our friends, family, and neighbors, have been working so hard--I can't believe tomorrow is the event! 

I don't have time to get mushy on you, since I still have a living room full of silent auction baskets and so many things to organize (with love! I am happiest when there's chaos to sort)--I'll save the sentiments for post-Relay. However, I would be foolish not to send a huge thank you to all our supporters! We have been able to do so much this year and could not have done it alone. 

If you're around tomorrow, please stop by the Dearborn Relay for Life! There is fun stuff going on all day and it's a great family event. Come check out the cowboys in the Team Dearborn tent, and don't miss our pie contest at 4pm!

A few questions.

You want the details, right? I can help with that.

Come out tomorrow evening, 5-9pm, to Leon's Family Dining on Michigan Avenue. We'll be set up in the back room, but since the people there are great and so is the food, feel free to get dinner there first! (Or second...we're not judging you if you start with dessert. We might do the same thing ourselves.) Ice cream costs $5, unless you're under 10 years old--then it costs $2. Some of the guys from the Dearborn Fire Department are coming to help scoop ice cream and you get to put on your toppings. (We have some  great stuff, guys. Seriously.)

Tell your friends, tell your family--and come out to support Relay for Life. All proceeds from the evening will go to the American Cancer Society.

Dine to donate

The Dearborn Relay for Life is coming up quickly! We've got less than two months to go, and we are going to be VERY busy during that time! We'll try to keep events in separate posts, so keep an eye out for updates. The first fundraiser we've got coming up is a dine to donate at Buffalo Wild Wings. It's on Thursday, March 14, at the Dearborn location (22216 Michigan Avenue). Just take a copy of the flyer (print your own, or talk to a team member) and give it to your server- Team Dearborn will get 20% of your total bill for the American Cancer Society. Easy, right? 

We've got plenty of other events coming up, including an ice cream social (our friends, the Dearborn Firefighters, are going to be helping us with that one)! Our calendars are very full for the next couple of months, but it should be a lot of fun, so come on out and help us raise money for a great cause!

Kickoff and Kmart craft sale

The 2013 Relay for Life of Dearborn Kick Off is this week! It's at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, February 6. The event starts at 6 PM, and should be a great time! If you're looking to learn more about the Dearborn Relay, and hang out with some of the people involved, come check it out! Here's the link to the flyer, with complete information. 

Team Dearborn is also getting ready for another fundraiser! We'll be having a Valentine's Day craft sale at the Livonia Kmart next weekend, February 9-10. It's at 7 Mile and Farmington, and we'll be there from 9-5 on Saturday and Sunday. Plenty of holiday gifts if you're still shopping! We've got some great new crafts, so stop by and see us if you're in the area!
